In an effort to bring national attention to the poaching problems in Tanzania, TANAPA (TAnzania NAtional PArks) hosted a tour of the park for Chelsea Clinton. Chelsea's visit coincides with TANAPA's introduction of the new Rapid Response Team for Anti-poaching.
According to the Tanzania National Parks website, a six-week training course involved 19 park rangers, who were trained in operational proficiency, tactical techniques pertaining to the protection of resources in the parks, stripping and assembling of firearms, safety precautions while using firearms, and section battle drills.
TANAPA and the African Field Ranger Training Services of South Africa conducted the training jointly.
